Build 7000/RC 7100

This is the patched winsetup.dll for those who want to install windows 7 but has ram that's lower than 512mb.

This is patched by me so anyone who will distribute this without permission is prohibited....

anyways i've tested this and i'm currently running windows 7 with 256mb ram so this really works!!!

Just leave comments if you have questions and i'll gladly answer your questions...

Thanks a lot for this! It's installing fine on a 256 mb ram desktop.

try not to burn it by making a new iso file but just extract the files to a usb/on a hard disk then run the setup.exe...
maybe it will not work if it is in iso...

Hi there Eugen...

Congrats for a well done job !!

Listen mate..I just used your patch to install Win7 build 7100 on a 223 MB RAM laptop..

1. I extracted all the files in the iso on my hard disk (I was running Win XP pro)
2. Replaced the winsetup.dll with yours
3. But when i put it again in another iso file and burned it did not worked...the blue screen of death appears

The only way i could install Win7 was to click on the setup file from the installation folder on the hard disk..

I all went nice and stuff..But,When i tried to repet the procedure from above but this time having Win7 installed..

It gives me the following error "Windows could not retrieve information about the disks on this computer."

Bassicaly what i am trying to do is, from the official Iso image to make a new one with your patched included.

While i have no probs in replacing the official winsetup.dll with yours and burning the contents it seems that i can not make it work ..The new iso file it`s giving me errors.Or when i am trying to do it from the hard disk i get the error i was telling you earlier.

Any ideias on what i am doing wrong??? Was your patch supposed to work from Windows xp only??

Cheers!

no...just the winsetup.dll btw try this:
1. extract all the files in the iso in your hard disk
2. replace your winsetup.dll with this one
3. now put it again in another iso file(not the old one make a new one)
4. burn it...

Thanks again...BUT...I use MagicISO to extract from the original ISO (one that I know when burned with either Nero or DVD decrypter is bootable) to a folder on PC. I go into sources directory and delete original winsetup.dll and then drop in the new one.

So far so good...I then use MagicISO to create a new ISO from the new directory. I then burn ISO (well 4 times - twice with DVD Decrypter and twice with Nero - using DVD-R and DVD+RW) - none of them will boot!!! If I pop them in PC drive they all autorun and ask if I want to install...but they will not boot. I seem to be missing something in extract and re ISO and then burn. I use same burner/software/media and laptop to try and boot DVD and original ISO burned boots fine (but always get install halted obviously) but this is driving me mad!

Thanks again - any more suggestions?

HELP anybody - I'm pulling my hair out.

I have got RC Win 7 7100. Used magicISO to replace the winsetup.dll (from here - cheers) in the sources directory and reburn BUT it still brings up memory message being 380mb instead of 512mb min. Browsing the dvd again with magiciso shows the new dll in sources directory with different date stamp (22/7/09) to all others.

Installing on an old Compaq M700 laptop with empty 40gb HDD and 320mb ram. Win7 DVD booted on laptop from cold.

I click to repair so I can get to cmd prompt and browsing D: (DVD) I can see modified dll in sources directory (as it has todays date rather than all other files that have 22/4/07). If I browse the X: drive (created by win7 to install from) and in sources directory the winsetup.dll is dated 22/4/07!!!

If I run setup again direct from d: from within cmd prompt I still get repeat of memory message and no install.

Is it only the one winsetup.dll that needs replacing?

Many thanks

Is their a ISO with modded dll in existence for download?

Correction, it has been confirmed that 7260 is the latest real build, RTM branch. Works with RC keys and is a legal download, if anyone wonders.

With what editor you changed the values? As I was trying it with the HxD editor, and could not find it from that mess :D yes, I'm not so familiar with hex editing anyway. I would like to set the latest file from build 7231 to allow installing on machines with less than 512 ram.
